Challenge Badges

Each Challenge badge has it's own page which you can access by clicking the link below.  Each page contains the badge requirements, a link to the badge workbook and a link to a resource page for the badge.  On the resource pages you will again find a link to the badge workbook plus you will find games, handouts, videos, and other resources that may be helpful for leaders or scouts working on the badge.  The number of resource pages is low right now so if you have resources that you have used please consider sharing them so that others may benefit.

Need help deciding which Challenge Badge to work on?  Use the Challenge Badge Review Matrix to help select one. As you can see from the example below, the matrix reviews each badge and provides a rating based on the number of requirements, number of prerequisites and the estimated amount of time required to complete the badge.

Badge Name Category # of Req's Rating Minimum Duration Pre-requisites Comments

Advanced Tripping Outdoors 8 Hard 12 months None.  See comments. Rated hard due to the number of camps that need to be completed.  Two other badges, while not technically pre-requisites, are also required.

Where are the new Scuba and Geocaching Badges?

You may have heard that these new badges were announced.  This is not quite true.  There are new requirements, but no new badges.

The newly released Scuba requirements are suggested requirements to use towards the Troop Specialty badge.  Similarly, the newly released Geocaching requirements are suggested requirements to use towards the Individual Specialty badge.  Neither a Scuba Challenge Badge nor a Geocaching Challenge Badge actually exist.

As stated in the requirements for these two Specialty badges, it is the troop or the individual that develops requirements.  The released requirements are only suggestions and can be modified or completely re-written to suit your needs.
